The housing database as a technical object incorporates histories of automation and concepts of quality control that emerged throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. The activities of surveyors, politicians and building contractors are entwined with systems of quality control in the form of repositories of data, sign-off sheets, public imagery/text, and a politics that merges and is co-produced by computational systems.
